6-12-2013 EUROPE TRIP MEETING RECAP

Thank you all for your quick and thorough response to the trip shirt, optional activity, and medical form submission.  This helps so much!  If you still have forms to submit, please do so as soon as possible. We were very pleased with the turnout at the June 12^th trip meeting.  We hope you found it to be a useful meeting.  Attached to this email are the slides that were presented and notes from the questions/answers.  We will also post these on our website http://www.whsentertainmentunit.com/.

During the meeting we introduced a new optional activity:  a two-hour Seine River cruise in Paris on Sunday, July 21st am.  The cost is $11.50/person.  If you are interested in taking this cruise, but have already submitted your paperwork, please email wheupa2013trip@gmail.com right away.  We’ll get you registered and you can follow up with your payment.

We also introduced the trip chaperones:  Amy Fuermann, Janice Hansen, Alicia Walker and May Wong for the girls; Scott Edwards, Todd Ellenberger, Desmond Tamaki, and Ron Wong for the boys.  Alicia Walker is the lead chaperone for this trip.  Chaperone groups range from 10 – 14 students.  Each of the chaperones is experienced working with students and excited about the upcoming trip.  This is a really great team!

Within the next week or so, we will provide you a suggested packing list and information on the return flight times by chaperone groups.  By the end of June, we will distribute luggage tags, instrument labels, and trip shirts.

If you haven’t already done so, be sure to decide how to handle cell phones/service (useful information in the briefing) and money/credit cards (be sure to notify your credit card company that card will be used overseas).  Also, be sure you have the correct size luggage and a quality passport holder.  Look into purchasing (or share with friends) European power adapters. 

Please talk with your student traveler about the importance of following the trip rules, particularly traveling with a group and following all chaperone directions.  The chaperone’s primary goal is your student’s safety. 

They plan to give the students as much independence as possible, and will need them to do their part by making smart choices.
